the thread is spoiled that we are all talking about who is wrong and who is correct, i hope we are focusing on the material itself, i am not going to Post anymore. now i understand why many collectors are silent like Panzer Rob.

I don't think this thread is spoiled at all; if anything it serves as a reminder that we should be sensitive to the real lives, the real suffering and real deaths behind the objects we collect.

We are not in a position to judge the bravery of men that faced death. Anyone that saw the reality of war deserves a measure of respect. Though we can regard the achievements that awards and medals represent, we do not rate the man by the "bling" he wears.

Chen, I'm sure you meant no disrespect and I hope you understand why your comments are perceived as insensitive.

Maybe it's a language thing on Chen's part. I also prefer to collect items worn by combat arms troops. A soldbuch or Wehrpass for a soldier involved in combat is usually more interesting than one for an administrative or logistic troop. However I have seen simply amazing pieces to female auxiliaries, band members etc. Also there was a greater variety of uniforms worn by combat troops. Adjutants uniforms are actually kinda bland, usually the M36 style. The adjutants cord is cool but not combat looking.

Since I was a combat service support member for half my U. S. Army career I personally understand the sacrifices they also make for their countries. As far as Germany was concerned every soldier and civilian be it man, women or child was in a war zone by 1944. I believe civilian deaths were higher than military deaths. All of these people were a part of history not just witnesses.

Its a really nice SB and maybe a if English is not his first language then it could of come out wrong.
All the guys in Normandy found super hard and only they know the true horrors of the war. Alot of German SB did miss out awards etc over being in a retreat and i think the last thing when your lifes on the line is to fill in your SB.
The officers i think had more time to do this as they was behind the front lines more so could get more time to fill in docs etc.
