My ORIGINAL SS ID,,,and warrelics forum!!

I can not believe that there are on this forum (warrelics forum) such people who are convinced that my SS id, which I personally find spring in Austria -Carinthia fake!

I'm not to blame if no one knows which unit they are!

I don't know this Sir, and judging people is not my Subject. We are only here to discuss about our Hobby, I mean. The "fantasy" Unit, the one-of-a-kind childisch Lettering... They are some excellent dog tags specialists here, I would be glad to read their opinion. The dog tag itself ist a good one, quantities of "Virgin" Erkennungsmarken have been found in eastern Europe. But even stamping them accurately is much more difficult that some people are thinking .

                  50 m away .... SS BUCKLE...

                  http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=736269

But it makes no sense to explain further and show photos and pictures, if no one believes, and I'm not a salesman that he wanted to sell it, I was just wondering what it is.

Interesting thread that needs more research. Tags are not my field but I don't see any reason to fake one with an unit never existed!

I think Der Stahlhelm has a valid point...why would Maximus999 put a fantasy unit on a tag? We have seen in this hobby all kinds of anomalies and odd-ball pieces that turn up that have been shown to be authentic.

I am the first to admit I am no expert on SS units or dog tags, so it may well be someone with expertise will show this piece to be a fake, but I do not think we should dismiss it out of hand.

Personally I am jealous of the fact he lives in an area where he can search for relics like this...great history and looks fun.

                        All IMHO.

                        Cheers,

                        Glen

                          Agree with you 100%

it could be 39. Gebirgs-SS Division "Andreas Hofer" if the unit existed??

                            Hi Guys.

There was two SS-Units wearing the Number "39". Not three, not four !!

                            - SS-Gren.Rgt.39 : Created 12.11.43 in Center-Russia through rename from SS-Gren.Rgt.8 (1.SS-Inf.Brig.)
                            - SS-Pz.Gren.Rgt.39 created 15.1.44 in Croatia after reformation from the 1.SS-Inf.Brig. into 18.SS-pz.Gren.Div. "Horst Wessel"

I have already seen - and some of them have been discussed on the WAF - completely wheird markings on SS Dog Tags, just due to the ignorance of their creators, ignorance of the Units, and ignorance about markings, Abbreviations, Stammrolle Nummer, and more... Then, the point of creating a "new Unit" is not a Wish, it's just a fail.....

As a digger for 25 years too , I have heard so many Legends, Lies, and more.... Diggers are like collectors, you have serious one, but also a lot who just want to make the "concurrence" jealous or to be flattered on Blogs or Websites.... Putting soil or mud on artifacts, some photographs taken near a hole in a forest, then after-cleaning Pics, and soon comes the first "Wow amazing" "What for a great find" "What for a great shape".

As I told before, I don't know personally Mr. Maximus, and I don't want to blame anybody.
I also had a Look on the given thread : I have found some belt buckles in my Life, none SS, also Aluminium Models, but their condition never, but really NEVER, approached the one shown by Mr. Maximum. Finding a mint belt buckle and the Dog tag from a very unique SS-Unit within 50 meter makes him one of the luckiest Digger ever.

                              No offence to anyone..
But it is possible. I'm digging for a long time as well.
One time i found a bunch of medals, EKM's, money and some more stuff together within 1-2 meters. About 30 meters away i found a (Heer) aluminium belt-buckle that was in very good condition.

Another time i found a ZF41 scope half in its box and about 100 meters away i found a K98k with ZF41 mounting. Luck?

As for the unknown unit on the EKM.. i cannot comment on that.
                              The EKM looks good though.
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.
