I will try to write down the text:

      1) " Wegen Nichteignung für die besonderen Aufgaben der Truppe am 12.10.40 nach ärztl.(icher) Untersuchung und Belehrung über Spionage, Sabotagen. Landesverrat, Wahrung des Dienstgeheimnisses ... entlassen nach Graz.

Ärztl.(iches) Entlassungsurteil: gesund und entlassungsfähig .
      Bad Vöslau, 9. Okt. 1940

      2) Entlassungsuntersuchung vom 12.10.40 : Gesund und entlassungsfähig. "

      Gerdan

Because of unsuitability for the particular tasks of the troop....he was found fit and discharged.

Simon, it's not a "J", but part of the "g" of the "Ledig" entry above.

Ah yes, i see that now.

Gerdan, Ian. That almost brings up more questions than it answers, i can understand that he was deemed unsuitable for serving with a special forces unit, but to have been enrolled directly in to that unit and not transferred to some other unit afterwards, not being called up again until 1943, because he seems to have been otherwise healthy enough.

Other than his WWI and WWII decorations, he had the Olympic decoration 2nd class and the bronze and silver classes of the NSDAP long service awards

Interesting Wehrpass! Frontline service in WWI, Freikorps service, civil service official, active NSDAP member since ca. 1930, somehow involved in the 1936 Olympic Games and frontline service in WWII, seems like an interesting career ...

His last appointment was a commander of Fest. Inf.Rgt. 856, but the interesting parts is his service during WWI and during 1919-20

I don´t think it is a J, it looks more like a part of the "g" in "ledig".
