Klahn also met his fate on the 11th April 45, though in another part of the country, close to the airfield of Lister at the SW tip of Norway. He was also shot down by a Mustang of the RAF, this time from 19 Sqdn which had been escorting beaufighters on an anti-shipping strike.

Next up, the second DKiG WP i've come across

      Oberfeldwebel Martin Kistler

Edit: This guy i believe was an Arado Ar.234 jet pilot.

Einsatzkommando 1./FAGr.5 was based at Stavanger-Sola airfield operating the type from 1945, with i believe only 3-4 aircraft

He flew over Stalingrad whilst with 3.(F)/10. His DKiG is listed in Scherzer's work on DKiG holders of the LW but his details are incomplete.

A prewar soldier who served in Spain, he was well decorated, but the unusual thing is to see aircrew getting the erdkampfabzeichen

Unless it was nighttime, or the weather was bad, and you were running out of gas - then it was a sweaty nightmare, like a monkey f*ing a skunk.

Another interesting entry for this guy is the wound badge awarded 2.6.41. I did a little checking and he was bordschütze on an He 111 when it was shot down or was damaged on the 20th May at Crete

Ah, so that could be where the erdkampf came from?

                          Why no Kreta cufftitle??

Good question..supposedly it was awarded for:

The cufftitle was considered an award and was given to personnel who made a parachute or glider landing on to the island of Crete between 20 and 27 May, took part in the air campaign over Crete, or were in active service at sea in the Crete theater of operations up to 27 May 1942.
