Hello Gents]
Here a soldbuch which i recently bought from a fellow collector.
This very nice soldbuch belonged to Leutnant Karl Sievers. Although it is an Ersatzausfertigung it was issued to him in the field on 1 february 1942. Karl Sievers was born on 14-12 1914 in Alfeld as a son from Karl Sievers and Elisa Sievers. On the first page you can see a very nice portrait of him wearing his Schirmmutze although this was against regulations
Karl Sievers joined the German Wehrmacht a few years for the beginning of the war. In 1938 he took part of the annexation of Sudetenland and Böhmen en Mähren. For this he received the Medaille zur Errinerung an den 1. Oktober 1938 mit Spange "Sudetenland Protektorat". This medal he received in oktober 1939.
Short after this medal he received the Dienstauszeichnung 4 Klasse.
He fought with Kavellerie Schutzen regiment 10 during the invasion from Poland
Later in March 1940 this regiment was renamed to Schutzen regiment 10, which belonged to the 9 Panzer Division. His unit took part with the invasion in Holland. On 12 may 1940 this division was in the South of Holland and went in the direction of the Moerdijk Bridges which was already token by Falschirmjager. The division passed Breda without heavy losses. After the capitulation the Divison went to Belgium (Antwerpen and Dunkirk).
After the invasion of Belgium the division became part of Panzegruppe Guderian and took part with the invasion of France. For his brave behaviour he got the Eisernes Kreuz II. Klasse on 26-11-1940.. This is interesting because a friend of mine has a very nice group with EK II document from a soldier from the Panzer Regiment from this division with the same date.
After the capitulation of France his unit was in Vienna en was sent to Polen again,in september 1940. In the spring from 1941 his unit took part in the Balkan offensive. As part of the 12th Panzer Armee his unit took part in rejecting the British, Australian an Greech troops. After this the division was sent to Rumania as preperation for Operation Barbarossa. He received the Eisernes Kreuz I. Klasse very soon for his actions during this operation.
In the beginning from 1942 he got heavily wounded and his soldbuch was most probably in such state that he received a new one. He became this ersatzausfertigung im Felde on 1st february 1942. For his wounds he got the Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz.
End november 1943 he heavily got wounded again. This time he got hit by an enemy bullit in his jaw. He came in Res.Lazerett Lublin on 1-12-1943 til 5-12-1943. Then was transported with the Lazerettzug to Res. Lazerett I Prag. He arrived on 8-12-1943 and stayed here till 21-4-1944. On 22-4-1944 he arrived in Res. Lazerett Koninglutter were he stayed till 8-9-1944. After this he had a recovery permit and went to Eimsen were he stayed till 23-9-1944.
On 30-9-1944 he joined his unit again. 6/Panzer Grenadier regiment 10. This kompanie was part of Kampfgruppe Reich. Kampfgruppe Reich fought in the area of Aam/Elst (just between Arnhem and Nijmegen), against the allied forces.
His regiment withdraw back to Germany near the Ruhrgebiet area in 1945. In March 1945 Oberleutnant Sievers received 4 Halbkettenfahrzeugen, 2 PAK Geschutzen and 135 soldiers and Kampfgruppe Sievers was born. His Kampfgruppe fought against the 104 American Infantery Division. On 31 March 1945 he led his kampfgruppe en got heavily wounded during the fightings near Eisern. For this he got the verwundeten Abzeiche in Gold on 15 April 1945 when he was in the hospital. It has been said that these fightings were so fierce and determined that he was nominated for the Ritterkreuz der Eisernes Kreuz. Unfortunately this never happened.
Here are some scans from the soldbuch. You can clearly see trace of blood around the edges of the pages
