Small Ersatzsoldbuch

Hello,

I have a number of Ersatzsoldbücher in my collection and this is the most recent to Obergefrhiter Ludwig Schmich.

Since there is no foto available, he has give both his left and right thumbprint.

The unit stamp is barely visible. His last unit is listed as Armee Pferde Lazarett 590, though the Fp Nr on the back is for 1.-4. Kompanie Divisions-Füsilier-Bataillon 545 (545.VGD).

I like this Ersatzsoldbücher, especially the late war ones since the seem to me to be a "sign of time" during the last few months of the war.

Impressive collection Ian. I remember seeing some of them.

Here is the first one I ever got (From Richard Hall....way back when)
