Hello everybody,
Recently I came into possession of a very interesting document and photograph grouping of an Obergefreiter who served with a Grenadier-Regiment. He was wounded five times in less than two years, and even twice in four days. The Regiment he served with surrendered to Soviet forces on the 8th of May 1945 in the Courland Pocket. It appears that the soldier ended up being captured by the Western Allies, most likely because he was hospitalized in Western Germany after he was wounded for the fifth time. He was discharged in October 1946, according to his Entlassungschein.
Would anybody be able to tell me with which kind of weapons an Infanterie-Panzer-Jäger-Kompanie was equipped? Could it be anti-tank guns like the Panzerabwehrkanone 43?
I hope you like the grouping, and that all of the award documents are original!
