Hello Eric-Jan,<O</O
<O</O
thank you for starting this thread! I will help this thread with an Soldbuch from a former crew member of the east asia Monsun u-boat U 195.
<O</O
U 195 was one of the only two large type IXD1 u-boats wich where build (U 180 and U 195). Matrosenobergefreiter Lück served also for a short time on U 180 (see entry on page 3, Feldpostnr. M 44013 = U 180, signed by cmdr. Oblt. zur See Rolf Riesen). U 195 left Bordeaux for his second war patrol on 24. August 1944 and arrived at Batavia 127 days later on 28. Dezember 1944.
Normaly U-boat Soldbücher were left at the base when the boat went on patrol. But the crew of U 195 gets there books from the flottila staff on board, because they left the base Bordeaux as one of the last u-boats, shortly before the allied troops reach the base!
