The Soldbuch gives no indication as to which unit he was to be posted. it seems that he was not posted to a combat unit since the only unit designations listed are his Unterführer training school.

There is a post card in the wallet addressed to SS Panzer Grenadier Gerhard Schmidt dated 23.11.44 post marked Pyritz. It's hard to read the message that was sent to him. He might have seen some action at the end.

Sorry to say that the postcard does not give any extra information to a combat unit.

As you can see on the card and on page 2 of your Soldbuch it is the same unit.

2./SS-Unterführer Schule Radolfzell ( a training unit).

Hey, i hope i can help you after 13 years xD

He was in the 2 Kompanie of the Unterführerschule Radolfzell, in October / November of 1944 the school formed Kampfgruppe Braun and went to Colmar, France to take place in operation Habicht

the letters were still shipped to the training school adress and kompanies the soldiers were in and were then transfered to the soldiers,

Many Soldiers from Kampfgruppe Braun died because they had no combat experience, it could be possible that he is in the war-cementry in bergheim, france
