    Soldbuch Werfer-Rgt.71 (Tp) Tunisia 1943

    Hi all,

Just get this nice Soldbuch which was belonging to Uffz. STÖSSEL from a Nebel-Werfer unit which was in Tunisia by 1943.

First, he was in the HQ of the Nebel-Werfer-Abt.9 by 1941.
The entire Battalion (except the 2nd Battery) gave birth to
the I./Werfer-Rgt.71 (Tropen) by the end of 1942.
Fritz Stössel was belonging to the Stab./I./Werfer-Rgt.7(Tp) until
his capture (I guess) by May 1943.

Pages 6-7-8-9 : Tropical uniforms an gears
    Page 15 : A stamp from the AR.190 (90.leichte Afrika Division).
Maybe this unit was absorbed or part of a Kampfgruppe during
    a battle.
Pages 20-21 : Money he get from 1941 to 1943 with stamps
located in Luxemburg, Reggio de Calabre and Sfax.
    Page 22 : Decorations
    - 20.12.41 - Stürmabzeichen
    - 01.08.42 - Ostmedaille
    - 17.04.43 - EKII

I have a couple of Werfer-Regiment Soldbucher in my collection.
This is the kind of document and unit which is not too common.

                      Hi Ian,

                      Africa : that's the point !
I have two more Soldbucher (including one grouping) and both related to the Eastern Front. I have just a question concerning the Stürmabzeichen and the Ostmedaille. I did not have any information concerning the Nebelwerfer Abt.9 in the East !

I do not have much on this unit... or nothing to confirm the east theatre!

                        Nebelwerfer-Abteilung 9

Formed 15.3.1940 in Wehrkreis XI with 3 Batteries; 31.1.1941 gave 2 Batterie to form Nebelwerfer Regiment 52, and was replaced; The entire Abteilung in 1943 became I/Werfer-Regiment 71 (Tropen).

                        Unter: Heerestruppe
                        Ersatz: 1 Celle; 1.6.1940 2 Bremen; 5.2.1942 3 Bremen, Wehrkreis X

                            Thanks Ian,

                            I have the Tessin too.

I was wondering if there was not another explanation as his ID was

                            758./Inf.Nachr.Ers.Komp.mot.29 Erfurt

Thank for all the lines .

That will be the Signals Replacement Company of Infanterie Ersatz Regiment 29, based in Erfurt.

                              The Regiment consisted of:
Infanterie Ersatz Battailon 15 in Kassel, 71 in Erfurt and 86 in Mühlhausen.

Stössel would have come under IEB 71 for admin I would have thought!?

Either of the Erfurt units mentioned against the entry for Stellen/Wehrsoldgruppe 16 on page 18?

                              /Ian
