Great Soldbuch. I personally cannot see any entries that would imply he was a sniper, but none the less it's a wonderful Soldbuch. Love the TDB entry.......

I asked a guy why he was thinking that this is a sniper soldbuch and his explanation was:

          - look how many times he was on furlough!. There were privileges only for snipers.

            Hi Pimpf,

Very nice Soldbuch you showed us here on WAF.

His first furlough was crossed out.
            Second: recovery-healing furlough.
            Third: re-count-relief furlough.
Fouth: re-count-relief furlough and 3 extra days special leave, note that this is after he received the TDB and his EK2.

            yours friendly

              Nice Soldbuch.

Not a sniper IMO. I have owned and seen several Soldbuchs to snipers. They list the weapon, scope #, etc, etc.

                Hi,

Extremely nice and some pretty rare entrie sin this one!

Definitely no sniper since the weapon and gear entries are missing, nonetheless this is an amzing piece of history! Especially because of the TDB entry. I have never seen one of those in a Soldbuch before!

                Great stuff!

And the final question about this document. Any thoughts on what was the "+bed43" issued to him 27.2.44?

                    Hello

Seems to be a K98 made by "bed" (Gustloff-Werke, Weimar)

                    Best regards, Fronti

bcd is correct but says bcd 43, so it has to be the Gewehr 43 made by Gustloff-Werke, Weimar

However it could also mean, and more likely bcd 43 a K98 made by Gustloff-Werke, Weimar in 1943.

                      /Ian

                        Hell

                        Well done Ian !

Could it also be bed 43 for a K98 made by Gustloff-Werke, Weimar in 1943?
In my database I have bcd and bed, both for Gustloff-Werke, Weimar.

In my database bed is assigned to two factories.

                        Here is the qoute:

Gustloff-Werke, Weimar MIAG-Muehlenbau und Industrie AG, Braunschweiger Lutherwerk, Braunschweig... possibly confused with 'bcd'

IMO: The code in the foto looks more like bcd, than bed.
                        (So you are right)

                        Best regards, Fronti

Yes Front, more than likely a K98 made in 1943......

Incidentally, I did not find a bed in my references, so perhaps a typo?!

                          /Ian

                            Hello

IMO ==> Could be a typo, because there is a accompanying commentary. "possibly confused with 'bcd'"

                            Best regards, Fronti
