Cant make out this inscriptions (with photos)

Hi Guys!

I have been looking on this inscriptions that belongs to a Grenadier who was rolled in late 1943! What the *¤# is the word on the first two photos, and on the third what is the "model" of weapon and bayonet, seems to be the same on both???

The word = Gasraümprobe or translated : trying your Gas Mask in a closed Bunker with real Gas !!

To be more precise Gasraümprobe means gas chamber test.

Are you asking what gestr on 26.5.1945 is? If so this is short for gestreichen or cancelled.

If I understand it correct He delivered the items back 26.5.45 and got it removed from the soldbuch by the two new inscriptions (Gestr) ?

Yes, on 26.5.1945 he handed in his rifle and bayonet.
Quite some time after the war ended! No doubt a soldier in Norway/Finland area?

Since Im a newbie on the Soldbuch aera Im not sure actually where His last station where! If someone knows where his Btl. was in 1945 I presume that would be where he was hold as POW, Im not sure that he was in POW camp but I have a feeling he has. Order Nr. 53 is typical of those troops fighting/serving in Norway....I will check the unit and get back to you.....

Grenadier Regiment 518 was part of 295 Infanterie Division which served in Norway (H.Q. in Molde) from September 1943.

You notice the glued in pay notes show he was in the reservation (no POW camps in Norway) at 'Opdal' i guess they mean Oppdal as that was in the area of operations of the 295 Inf.Div.
Most of the Soldbucher from Norway i have show personal weapons being handed in around this time, the latest i have being a KM soldier in Tromsø who handed his mauser in on 8.6.45.

My last questions, the issue that he was in reservation is that based on the glued pages or inscriptions made on the glued pages? And does reservation have the same value as Grini "fangeleir" had after the war with German soldiers? Cuase I tought that Grini "fangeleir" was a POW after the war for the Germans??

I'm not entirely sure on all the political why's and how's about the status of German personnel after the surrender but i do know that all German unit's were gathered in to 'Reservations' not POW camps. That is the term used by the allies and Germans. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the Germans still had a great deal of independence in Norway post-May '45. They still controlled and administered themselves, not least because there were so few allied troops in Norway to do it. Some Germans were of course arrested and sent to prisons and prison camps but weren't these in general those who where going to be prosecuted for war crimes?

I know that on the continent the Germans had their status of POW changed to (i think) disarmed former enemy personnel or something.
