Just got this soldbuch grouping (Soldbuch, WH-führerschein and a bunch of documents).
He started out with a PAK kompanie, then MG-Bataillon 1 and after that he went to Infanterie-Regiment 60 (mot).
Which was later re-named to Grenadier-Regiment 60 (mot) and lastly to Panzergrenadier-Regiment 60 (of the famous 116.PD "Der Windhund").
Also saw some Panzerjäger-Abteilung (Sf.) 228 entries, but don´t know yet if he was in it.

Havn´t researched it yet, but it looks like he was captured during the Hurtgenwald battles (grouping includes some POW documents).
He had the Reichssportabzeichen in Bronze and Silber and he had the Ostmedaille, EKII, Infanterie-sturmabzeichen im Bronze and Nahkampfspange in Bronze.

Here are the Pictures.
Sorry for bad quality of the first one, just quickly made it!
And no, the cover is NOT denazified.. just bad photo-flash

Here is my contribution to the thread in this case for the Nahkampfspange Der Luftwaffe. The CCC was awarded to Unteroffizier Helmut Nöthel who served with Stab/Fallschirm-Panzer Aufklärungs-Abteilung Hermann Göring.

Awarded:
23.08.43 Verwundeten-Abzeichen in Schwartz (Wound Badge in Black)
14.05.44 Kraftfahr-Bewährungsabzeichen im Bronze
28.06.44 Erdkampfabzeichen Der Luftwaffe (Air Force Ground Combat Badge)
26.08.44 Eiserne Kreuz 2. Klasse (Iron Cross 2nd Class)
19.02.45 Nahkampfspange der Luftwaffe 1. Stufe - Bronze
27.02.45 Panzerkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe im Schwartz

His last award the PKA in black for Armoured Recon. is quite unique in it's own right.

Regards

Very nice group Rick and another fine addition to your collection. Even still has the POW card! That is neat. Thanks for sharing.

OMG, Jeremy you have got to be kidding me...those last two awards are seriously mind blowing. I had to do a double take when looking at them. Is there a photo of Nöthel in the Soldbuch?

.

@ Edward when I get a moment I will post his SB photo.

@ Rob Hah yes you are probably right about that certainly the only one I have in my collection. And duly noted should I ever part with this.

@ Swayne this group was actually an Estand pick up some years back but yes when I saw it and being LW and HG Div. I had to crack into the piggy bank to get it into the collection.

Nahkampfspange (Silber) awarded to SS-UStuf. Günther Borchers 9./(Pz.Pi.) Pz.Rgt.1 "LSSAH" on May 7, 1945, together with the Wound Badge in Silver as well (see "Peiper" written by Patrick Agte, for last award entries by the Panzer Regiment).

The entry is signed by Borchers' Kompanie Chef, OStuf. Erich Rumpf, one of the later Malmedy defendents.

Cheers!

I have just discovered this most interesting Thread. Thank you all for sharing, I have seen some extraordinary Items there ! and spend a good Hour by looking at your Treasures !!
For a while, I showed my best one, CCC in Gold with the details of over 50 CC-Days, combination Soldbuch + Wehrpass, which makes an outstanding Set. Here is the Link :

Concerning Hucks Soldbuch + Awards Documents, I am not sure he realized the signature from "Hptm und Adjutant" is a VERY interesting one. Egon HOLZAPFEL was Knight Cross Bearer.... before Lt.Col. Ramser !! Here is a Pic showing them together.

Here's one of my Soldbücher with a CCC award entry, it's part of a larger grouping to a battle-hardened Kurland veteran. I'm still researching this one so I don't have much to post on it right now, but once I've finished I'll post much better scans along with more detailed information.

This Soldbuch was originally issued to Eberhard Hoffmann who served in the 12.Panzer-Division as a Panzerspähwagen crew member (SdKfz.222). Hoffmann served first in Kradschützen-Btl.22 then Panzer-Aufklärungs-Abt.12 from April 1943 to wars end. The group consists of his Soldbuch, Erkennungsmarke, Führerschein, Close Combat Clasp award document, Einsatztage sheet listing both Einsatztage and Nahkampftage, all of his awards and his Kurland cuff title. As you can see, the Soldbuch has a very nice photo which shows Hoffmann wearing a black Panzer wrap. This is the first time I have personally seen a Close Combat Clasp award entry in a Soldbuch with a black wrapper portrait photo, although I am positive there are other examples of this award/photo combination out there. No doubt a combination that is not seen very often!

Unfortunately, some of the awards were denazified post war (PAB, CCC and EKI) but I have simply purchased unmolested examples to display with the group.

All in all Hoffmann was awarded the Sudetenland medal, EKII, eastern front medal, PAB in bronze, EKI, CCC in bronze and the Kurland cuff title.

The Close Combat Clasp document is hand signed by Generalleutnant Erpo Freiherr von Bodenhausen who, rather than surrender to the soviets, committed suicide inside the Kurland pocket on 9.May 1945.

There is a double sided Nahkampftage sheet. One side lists 16 Nahkampftage, and the other side lists 17 engagements (only 5 of which are also listed on the Nahkampftage sheet) which I am guessing were being tallied for a higher grade PAB (?)

What I find fascinating is that after 5+ years of combat and with a minimum of 28 separate combat engagements (based off of what is listed on the Einsatztage/Nahkampftage sheet) Hoffmann was never wounded - not even once!
