Post 10 is a Soldbuch security check. It has nothing to do with the hospital. Notice the heading is crossed out.

As Jeff has mentioned....it actually rare to see these pages used for the purpose intended!!!

Normally security checks on the Soldbuch and an extension for kit issues, awards, admission to/from hospital etc.

I got a couple more pictures of the Soldbuch, I couldnt remember exactly what the British Soldier had written in the back but he states it was from POW Camp 369 Syracuse on the Isalnd of Sicily 15th Aug 1943

I think the folding shovels were Klappspaten. I think that reference is to a folding pick, although I'm having a bear of a time finding a picture of one.

I'm seeing Verh. [Verheiratet] Arbeiter (Married Worker?), but I'm not that great at Suttlerlin either...

Stand, Beruf means profession, trade.....however sometimes clerks take it as Familienstand - marital status.

So this guy is married and he was a labourer/manual worker.

I picked up this soldbuch which was bought back by an English soldier who befriended the owner in Syracuse POW camp in Italy as the German soldier spoke english and translated for the camp
The onwer of the Soldbuch was called Gerhard Feuerstein, however the insription says it is from a German friend called Henry....not the Soldbuch holder!

                    hi ian

Yes I noticed that once I saw the writing in the back again, (had been in storage and a while since I had looked at it), the origional owner and the name in the back do not correspond ! I am going to try writing to one of the organizations mentioned in the pinned threads to see what other information I might be able to find out. Perhaps the origional owner was killed or it was stolen, maybe was exchanged for cigarettes or something

Thanks for help with the name aswell
