    Hi Roger,

Just trying to clear things up a bit. There was no intention of being nit-picky. I am a chronicler of all units of the Luftwaffe, both fliegende and those of the Bodenorganisation, so my knowledge of one particular unit or type of unit can not be as finely tuned or as deep as that of an individual who specializes in a particular topic, such as the Me 262. My intent was to see if I had my facts straight from the notes I had taken over the years. And yes, I did misstate the time frame when I initially referred to Rechlin because I wrote that without going and getting my notes first, as I should have.

    Regards,

      Additional page

      Hi BHS,

Yes, I agree with you. I only had Burg, etc. in my mind but not Rechlin. So, only after I checked the references I noticed that they indeed started in Rechlin. One cannot know everything by heart

i attached an additional page that shows that he apparently saw some action, not as pilot but still interesting. He was also wounded by a grenade in 1943.

There is a "Schlacht" (battle) mentioned in 42/43. Does anybody recognize which one it was?

      Regards
      Roger

Velikiye Luki ties in nicely with his service in 12.Kp./6. Lw.-Feld-Div., which belonged to the II. Lw.-Feldkorps and fought there and southeast of Nevel during the stated period. An infantry company is about as distant as one can get from having something to do with Me 262, so he must have been the company clerk or a rifleman. I mean, there aren't may other choices in that type of unit.

I think you are right. There is also an entry called Bewachungszug, which is basically "guarding platoon" or something like that. There was also a document that came with the Wehrpass that states that he had to drive to Staaken and pick up some stuff. So he might have indeed been the company clerk. Of course it would be nicer to have the Wehrpass of a pilot, but I think to have the Wehrpass of any member of 10./NJG11 is rare.

There were also some paper about a Propaganda movie they wanted to do in March 1945 with 10./NJG11! It clearly stated what and when they wanted to film. I wonder if it was ever done.

Yes, Roger, I agree. I am not a collector myself, but a SB or WP that belonged to a member of this elite and very interesting unit is a worthy and valuable find. I've never seen the movie mentioned. There is a surprising amount of items from the war that fell into Allied hands, were catalogued by them and then seem to have disappeared into thin air. That movie could be one of them. For me, it's film also, but a different kind. Between August 1944 and February 1945, the Luftwaffenpersonalamt microfilmed all of its various Kartei (750,000 personnel data cards) and these microfilm rolls were taken by the Allies to the Captured German Documents Library on Monck Street in London and catalogued. In 1948, they were transferred to the Air Historical Branch of the British Air Ministry. That is the last anyone has ever seen of them. BA-MA Freiburg and the British claim they don't have them. Where are they? Were they accidently destroyed or thrown out sometime after 1948? No one knows. Another World War II mystery that will probably never be solved.

              Cheers,

              --BHS1956

I would have to check (documents are currently stored to protect them from sunlight), but I believe no as I would have indicated it when I posted the photo.

I am considering trading (for an interesting Flugbuch or fighter pilot grouping) or selling if the price is right.
