    Hello Allan,

That cross is spectacular! I have wanted one for decades, but it has not been in the stars and the American Dollar is so weak that I can't compete in the Euro economy.

It is a jewell of any cross collection. I hate to say I am green with envy, but.....

      Well Done Allan!

You beat me to it, it is a lovely cross. Could you post a pic of the ribbon, showing the border??

      Best,

        Very nice Allan!!!

Does it appear to be unworn? In your opinion is this the original case??

        Thanks for sharing.

          Tim,

          Good questions.

I haven't had a real opportunity to have a good look at the RK yet, leaving that for the weekend.

But, first impressions, it looks like the RK does show some signs of wear, or could it be 66 years of some wear and collectors handling!!?

The case really does interest me of course.

Already I have noticed some differencies between this case and other RK cases which I have.

As this type of RK is considered to be the original first pattern RK introduced in 1939,it follows that if the case it is in is the original(and I would like to think that it is) then it would set a bench mark for the pattern of an early type case.

I'll me showing the case in the cases and packets forum later, and it would be great if everyone could have a look and give there opinion/input.

          Allan

Allan- the case for my 3/4 ring is a little different as well, but it is not identical to yours. With cases, who knows if a cross came with the particular case.

Is the core of your cross magnetic? Tim's core is copper/brass. Mine is copper. Given that the frame is unmarked as well (has anyone ever seen a "800" marked 3/4 ring frame?) I wonder if they are all neusilber. Mine was neusilber on SEM and had a small mercury contamination on the frame. Gordon mentions in his book one example with a silver frame, but again, it is unmarked and there was no specific testing mentioned to determine whether it was in fact silver or neusilber.

Tim's loop appears to have brass or copper in it. My loop is a juncker loop so I assume it has been replaced. Does yours have any indication or copper or brasss?

With all this copper or brass (mine was copper only on SEM), I have been wondering if the maker of this cross also made other pieces with copper or brass. A very interesting piece.

It was well out of my price range....but boy, did I linger on the estand for a while!

              Well Done!!!

                  Here are some more photos.

                  The core is non magnetic.

I can't see any tell tale signs of a copper/ brass core.

I'll post some pictures of the ribbon on the cases/packets forum.
