Yubari : The hidden ribbon pieces are some times the orange type ... used up as backing - sown together on the back of the metal plate first
... that way the top ribbon on the front side could be sown to something .
This includes holding down the jump ring on the medal to the ribbon below to keep the medal more steady in place .
I wonder if they were told not to use the orange type and therefore this was the only to use up existing stock ??
