    Ek 2 maker ?

    Hi just bought this cross today at an arms fair, is it a W & L ?

    IMO this the cross a original type ,but not a W&L .

    IMO this is a unmarked Jakob Bengel type,

    (though the pictures not the best)

          Hope these are much better.I have attempted to photograph the small ridge on the top arm where the ribbon loop is attached.

              Hi Troy :
              Some makers had a small ring on the top arm flange as part of the frame - a centering mark - to attach the jump ring right in the middle every time .
              There is nothing worse than having crooked hanging medal .

              These extra surface rings between makers were fairly close in diameter and some were shallow and some were very distinct/noticeable like yours .
              This centering ring was normally covered . Only on one sided mounted jump rings and then crimped closed to the other side -
              is where one gets to see this positioning ring .
