War Merit medal for review

Thank you Chet, the education I receive here is invaluable. On a side note, is this the only correct pattern ribbon for this medal? I only ask as I have another one where the ribbon pattern is different.

The first ribbon is correct for a War merit medal.

The second medal you show has a ribbon for an EK2 on it.

haha the second medal is priceless. Ribbon for medal awarded for bravery on battlefield mounted on service medal given mostly to civilians

Hello there,

The ribbon on the last War Merit Medal is for a 1939 Iron Cross Second Class. It is original ribbon, but it does not belong on a War Merit Medal.

Here's another one I picked up in a bulk lot. The ribbon is sun-bleached, but I imagine this is an example of an original ribbon based on the comparison picture posted?

I agree: good ribbon and not necessarily "sun bleached" in this case because there are different shades of red on these ranging from true red to orange (and also various shades of pink for other ribbon types) as I showed in my previous KvM single mount picts (post 10). This applies to ribbon proportions (band widths) as well from what I can see: just different ribbons made by different makers...

Your second new medal is indeed on EK II 1939 ribbon (also encountered with orange band!)
