Grand Cross of the Iron Cross 1939
Hello Everyone,
These are certainly impressive pieces, historically important, a pleasure to view.
While the Iron Cross series is not an area of my collecting focus, it is very interesting. I do have a related question.
If memory serves correctly, I believe that I saw a pair of Grand Crosses offered at auction several years ago. No ribbons involved, only the crosses themselves. The interesting characteristic that I remember is that the core material on these Crosses was not made of metal, but of graphite.
Is anyone else aware of such a variant? Period manufacture? Post war? Fantasy?
