    just got this cross and wondering if theres a way to identify the maker

        In my opinion there is zero chance this EK1 is authentic. It has been discussed before here.

            is not convinced But the finger print of the fake is the same who create the round 3 fake!!!

                    Thanks Stefan for your reply and initiating a discussion - a real good look at this one is long over due .

                    The Winkler cross does not have a post war fake frame . For now we are only talking about the frame not the core .

                    The same frame - die and 'master' existed early on ... looking at the heavy wide silver plated cross I have 39/ 40 ?

                    The same outside and inside frame trimming tools have been used on both crosses .
                    The outside edge/shape of the external trimmer does not match the actual bead curvature .... and this makes the frame flange wider and narrower in some places ... mostly seen on early crosses like the UB .

                    A full comparison with a few sectional comparisons .

                          So your R3 is a post war made cross . The frame die is war time ., which I have shown .
                          The one on the right is a full war time cross with the same frame as your R3 .

                          The question : when did ownership change . I consider the Winkler cross war time .

                          The R3 shows we have a new owner of the frame die of this war time die master . Is it Souval - who knows- or has it a Souval disk on the Winkler cross ...

                              Sorry guys, but I am not sure I can follow; is the lower bent flaw on the 6 o'clock arm, left side! indication that it is a good S&L or a fake S&L ?
