I don't like it. Looks like ones I've always believed were not original. Bad pebbling pattern, 1st pattern like eagles.

        what´s going on here??

Stogieman: where did I mention that Blades was interested in my "Assmann" para badge??
Please post the link, I wouldn't know where to find it.

The reason why I didn't start a thread in an other forum section :
        - Up til now I didn't have a reason to believe it wasn't good
        - When I post something in the appropriate forum I usually get no replies at it

        to Brian S.:
First of all: should I throw it in the dustbin because one or two forum members appear to have a problem with it?
If Baldes doesn't have a problem with it, should I have one.

Usually you can learn a lot on this forum, but it would be very unwise to try selling fakes on a forum like this, wouldn't it??

Sorry, but this beats me completely.

Yes, Ben, if it is a fake you should throw it in the cigar box and never sell it. I don't subscribe to the greater fool theory.

This "if someone buys it then great" attitude is not the honorable thing to do. I knew a dealer who told me "if YOU believe it's real, that's ALL that matters." No, it's not. That's just wrong.

Sorry, Ben, I just don't think this is an honorable approach to this hobby. Some of us eat our mistake, we do NOT pass them on to the next guy.

Brian, if I thought it was a mistake I wouldn't have posted it here.

It hasn't got anything to do with the "greater fool theory".

I assume that militaria dealers usually know what they are dealing with, when I showed it to detlev Niemann a while ago his only remark was that it was bronze instead of gold.
I had it on the E-stand a while ago as "gold", Jaques asked for pics which I mailed him.
His only comment was that it was bronze, not gold.

Apart from that I would like to hear some more opnions before I put it in the cigarbox, I have seen more of these around.

In regards to the para badge: I've posted pics in the "show me your FJ badge"
            and NOBODY had any comments.
That was in the appropriate forum, in the appropriate thread.

You see Brian, I've bought some crap based on opinions of 2 or 3 others, I don't want to write off stuff which I believe is good, based on the opinions of 2 or 3 others.

            Regardds,

            Ben

Looks like an original to me.........sharp details, pebbling looks good, pin and catch appear to be consistant with others I've seen as "originals".

As I've stated before, I've got the same badge (my pin doesn't appear to be as long) and it got many "thumbs up" from our experts before I bought it. I always thought of these unmarked Crosses as common unmarked example.

If the experts to deem it a fake, then I've got some $$ coming my way!

                Thanks,
                Mike

                  Ben,

Please post sharper pics if possible. If you can get straight-on, as opposed to angled, pics that would be great. I'd love to see a closeup of an eagle too. The pics aren't good enough to condemn this piece.

Mike who told you or sold you this exact badge as real? Can you post yours in a photo we can all clearly see to establish that?

Ben we need a really much better photo of the front. The photo at the top is only your photo which I enlarged.

If this turns out to be genuine I have two coming out of my cigar box.

                      Ben is right, my mistake....

... he did not state that Baldes would buy his fake Assmann Paratrooper Badge. he stated that Baldes would buy his fake Spanish Cross in Bronze with swords.

My opinion on this cross is based strictly on your awful pictures. The pebbling, as shown in your fotos is not consistent with known originals of this cross.

                            Hi Brian,

I purchased my Spanish Cross from moderator Yuri D. about a year ago from the e-stand. My camera is down so I had to scan my cross. It appears very similiar to the one in dispute. Here goes.........

                            Thanks,
                            Mike
