O.K. guys, I'm trying to learn here, can someone please post a photo of a wartime ribbon so that I can see the difference in the weave. I've searched the forum but still can't see the differences

There are a few simple tests that can be easily done.
First use a blue light to see if the white glows indicating modern, but certainly post 1945, manufacture.
Next if you can tease a sample thread from one of the ends (remove the thread completely from the ribbon) put a flame to the thread if it burns it is cotton or silk, if it doesn't burn but shrivels up and goes into a solid lump it is a modern nylon or similar textile.
Others on this forum will help with thread counts and weave indicators.
Finally, the old adage applies "if in doubt, leave alone"Comment

The last pic is like looking at a different ribbon. The previous pic clearly showed the red weave like /////////
Anyway, 47mm wide... you might be measuring it badly but if your measurement is true I would still be a no.

The photos were taken in different light conditions, the first ones in artificial light last night, the last photo this morning in natural light.
I did the burn test and that's fine.
Here is a photo showing the steel rule, I am measuring it from the outer edge of the loop at one side to the outer edge of the loop at the opposite side.Comment
