    Knight's Cross

Paraphrasing a popular book (and movie):

Husband, leaning across kitchen table and saying to wife in a hushed undertone: "I want to get the Knight's Cross".

Wife, in reply: "Why? It's just a hunk of expensive metal!"

    =============
Time to step up to the plate and run with the big dogs, to mix metaphors.

Would some knowledgeable forum members be so kind as to point me in the right direction on some research materials to study before embarking on the hunt for the right piece? Advice?

I hear the book "The Iron Time " mentioned often; Is this useful? I'll also search the archive.

    Thank you all!

A good start is Gordon Williamson's CD-ROM Collectors' Guide to the Knight's Cross.
PM him to find out how to get a copy.
There are also a lot of good, original examples posted in the recent "Knight's Cross Count" thread.

      RK info

The book,'The Iron Time' is excellent in my opinion, and V.E. Bowen's book 'The Prussion and German Iron Cross' is also very good. Gordon Williamson's book I have been told is one of the best, but as hard to find as a real RK!
As for the CD I shall start looking for that as well.

            Absolutely!

I read it some time ago, out of curiosity, and was just reading it again, more carefully this time. Now about those lazy "R"'s...

Thanks! I ordered some books today also.

Hi Bruce! Thanks for the tip.

The first thing I have learned about seeking one of these pieces is that I have a lot yet to learn!

This opportunity, if still extant, will have to pass. I am in no rush and am sure that more than few pieces will come and go before the right one comes along.

                    Harald geisslers book !!!!!

                    Hello,

When you are first looking to buy some reference books etc ... do not forget the IMHO excellent book written by Harald Geissler " Das Eisernes Kreuz 1813 bis Heute "

It is written in German but is a very nice reference , it seems that the englisch part of the world is sometimes forgetting to look into German text books

                    Cordial Greetings,
