The souval cross http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=762434 is a post war cross . It does not have the dipping 3 and on the back the ring is not attached. I could be wrong but I was told these were post war made. Cliff

I don´t know how old you are, Cliff. But were yo present when Souval assembled their crosses? How do you know, if this is a wartime piece or not?

Hello Cliff,
The cross is period authentic in my view. While I am far from expert I did collect Souval EK for a period of time years ago and found that all of the dozens of EK2 I handled had the reverse side of the ring unsoldered. As for the Dopping 3, I associate that feature with the fat swas Souval core in the EK1. Never came across one in an EK2, either marked or unmarked.

Stu

Most of the post war Souval EKs have the dipping three, because these kind of number design is the original Souvaldesign. War time pieces of Souval have different number designs, dipping three is only one of them.Regards

It's been a long time since we last corresponded. I hope you are well.
Are your comments referring to both EK1 and EK2?
What is your opinion on the cross in question on the Estand.

Stu

this EK II, looks like a Souval EK II with core by maker 27.
IMO Souval got cores from other Vienna EK maker during war, too. After the war, they only used their own products (dipping three cores and later the standard cores).Regards
