"21" Six Rivet DKiG in Gold for Discussion

I bought a collection last week and this "21" six rivet DKiG in Gold was among it. The collector told me he bought it from Tom Wittmann several years ago. It appears to me that it has been "reworked" in some way and before I list it, I would like to know what exactly has been done to the cross. Thanks in advance!

so which parts you are feeling reworked?
        I didn't see them.

Perhaps it's just a well-worn cross that has been cleaned after the war? The reverse has scratches, suggesting it has been cleaned in some way.

            .....

Not seeing anything that was "reworked".
            Looks like a nice cross.

              Second opinions please Godet DKIG

Hello , I bought this and have some questions about it . The inner area of the red ring at 9:00 looks messed with - GLUED ?!!? . Anyway you can see it in pics and there seems to be some residue of the glue on the wreath ? Almost looks like a little melted red from the ring . How is the wreath attached ? The black enamel has a very thin red line around it before the silver of the swaz frame ?!!? . Maybe this is normal but I don't see it in any pics . Actually can't see it in my pics either but it is definitely there and very uniform . Same color as the red ring under the wreath . Also the lines above and below the date seem a little weak ? I ordered Dietrics book but it is not here yet . Is this really a good one ? Kinda wondering . Thanks Dave

I have no idea as to how the red ring is held in place nor do I know the material it is but I do see a problem. Look at the swaz corner in the 12 o'clock position, something appears wrong there. I also notice that the width of the red ring is not consistant as it moves around the inner diameter. The red ring appears damaged. Just the thoughts of a retired machine shop inspector. d_t

Thanks for the reply Daniel , The 12:00 arm looks the same as the rest . The swaz isn't perfectly centered so the arm is a little tighter there but is not touching . The red ring inconsistencies seem to be on others also . The 12:00 swaz arm does have a slight dimple in the enamel from manufacturing as it has no damage there . I struggle with a camera but I will try if more needed . Thanks Dave

Dave; The added photos do not show what I saw in the previous pics. I am surprized at the difference. Thanks! d_t

                          .....

The wreath is held in place by 2 of the 6 rivets.
From looking at the back, the rivets look untouched.
I don't see how the wreath could have been removed and glued on without messing
                          with those rivets.
It could have been clean with some substance making it look odd.
                          I still say it's untouched.

Thanks a bunch guys . I am a Luger guy mostly and had been reluctant to buy things like this . Since I found this site I have been buying stuff like this to go with the Lugers . incredible WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE HERE AND thanks again !!!!!!!!!! The wreath is not glued on - under 30x the spot at 9:00 is not glue - something got on the red a little and scared the begezziz outta yours truly . Heck you can buy a half decent Common Mauser Luger for what this cost !!! Not a Krieghoff of course but that is a different bird there . I don't have a really good scale but it seems to be just a tic over 70 grams ?!!? Now I probably need a well worn Knights cross if anyone has one for sale . Again thanks for all the help Dave
