Jon, I don't have the books you're referring to, but would be extremely interested if a possible producer of this uniquely designed EK2 clasp has been contemplated.

    cheers

I was told it's a rare Junker made spange device, button made by F.Sedlatzek. Here's a photo of the reverse of mine.I don't have the books either but giving them a closer look they are two different devices both first pattern. Interesting, only seen one other 1st pattern buttonhole but like mine though.

Jon, thanks for the additional scan. The clasp posted by Patrick is IMO a Boerger piece, identical in design compared with the full size version.

I've seen the clasp you have three times before and it's a real enigma. I've also on several occasions tried to get a serious discussion going about this specific design. Once I declared my sceptisism and was asked not to bad-mouth a perfectly original piece. Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree, but please allow me to express my reservations.

The producer of a specific mini can today be identified by the design. With a few exceptions (i.g the Woundbadge) this could IMO only be achieved with a phantograph. All full sized EK clasps 2nd type that I'm aware of share some fundametal features i.e. a ratio of 1.11-1.14 when measuring wings/datebar. A vertical line drawn from the tip of the datebar would cross outside the lower outmost feathers. The left bottom of the digits are abruptly cut.

Now the alleged "Juncker" mini clasp. The ovals in the digits are tilted to the right and the bottom left on the digits have a drop-shape, similar to the type seen on EK2. Further more, Juncker's full size clasp has none of these features.

I know some of you guys probably view me as heretic and perhaps I am. Some would probably present an image of a well known person with this specific clasp. But in order for us to accept this piece (totally different from all other clasps we think we know about), we also have to accept that Juncker (or who ever) did not use their already produced design. Instead they made this piece from scratch. Or perhaps there's a scenario I haven't figured out

        cheers
        Peter
