You are SO, SO right !!!! I'm 68 now and beat up all to hell. YOUTH is the BEST !!!!!

Right! Really interesting. Fakes were made from 1945 onwards, and originals were touched all the time in the early days.

I think your observation validates the theory that, while provenance and the ol' "I've had it for 50 years" defense can help, only research and study can really authenticate an item.

Anyway, that's my view.
