            I have some doubts about this one but I'm no expert. It should also be in a different forum.
            Best regards,

                I think the same, I am by far an Expert in these, but this one does not seems match those, that I have seen that should be original.

                But wait for the more knowledged in these, before discarding it into the fake pile.

                  Should the word Silber be SILBER as on this or SiLBER as seen on oaks etc?

                      I think it is an original 1st pattern example, very few of them were made and I haven't seen one on sale in the last few years. Less desireable than the usually encountered type though IMO

                            Interesting.

                            Here is why I doubt it:
                            • The star is from the BRD Bundesverdienstkreuz Sonderstufe des Großkreuzes;
                            • The pin is known on post-45 Hohenzollern Stars by Klietmann's "Godet" company, who made extremely high-quality restrikes of wartime awards but with different dies.

                            All these components are known to have been used after 1945:

                              I don't really know what to say, given the available reference material. It does not correspond with the very few I've seen illustrated. I'm not certain about the correct measurements of this 1st type GC, I've seen referenes to 80mm and 77mm. IMO Trevor made a valid point and I surely wouldn't even consider it in my collection,

                              cheers
