Can anyone get hold of Andy??

If this is good, I would certainly like to get it. But I also want to be careful.

        Thanks.

          Hi Jim-

I just logged on. Wow- that is a nice cross! Just tell the guy you will buy it and fly out there. It will be worth the flight. It ceratinly may be a scam, and the guy will back down if he refuses to let you pick it up. The ship in the paint would be easy to spot if it was here before. If it was, as Dave says, the guy knows the real value and there is something fishy. Just committ to the cross and fly to pick it up!

If it is a scam, you only lost the flight money. It would have at least given you the satisfaction of not helping a crook. If it is good...........

            Darrell,

Damn good eye. I just sent him the address for that site and asked where he acquired the cross. This response should prove to be interesting.

              Jim,
You have to be careful of a switch scam. They show you photos of the real thing but send you a duffer cross in return for your cash. Picking it up in person is a great idea if it is practical, tell them you will pay in person also once you have seen the cross in your hand.

I was looking at the earlier posts. Dave is right! This sure looks like the cross from the crosses section which is down!

                    Definitely a SCAM

OK guys....I just pulled out Andy Hopkins' article which I had printed and saved for reference.

No question...it's the same damn cross....and the same damn photo's.

Panzerman, if it were me, I'd tell this sh1t to take a flying leap and quit wasting your time.

                      Harry,

My thoughts exactly. I'm pretty sure now this is a set up. Now, for the trouble he has caused me, I'm going to have a little fun.

                          Jim,

I have ran into this guy on Ebay before. I don't trust his judgement or his items. He emailed me several times( after searching Ebay to see what I was bidding on.. very suspect) to tell me my items were fake. One item he tried to tell me was fake turned out to be that nice salty Deschler and Sohn EK1. I learned later (according to the buyer) that he was working behind the scene to get the EK himself.

I have seen this RK before and it looked to me like a very nice museum repro. I also had been offered 1500 for another 'original' RK mit Oakleaves.

You guys be the judge . . .

What we need to do now, is have several guys here contact him by email and tell him what a great original cross he has and start a bidding war. He's already agreed to it once. Let's see how greedy this guy is.

Peter, do you want to start it off since you asked for photos already? This could be fun. I'll bet as soon as one of you guys contacts him, he sends me an email with some excuse for backing out.

Come on, lets have some fun with these scammers for a change. We couldn't do it with Babcock, but maybe this guy???

These crims could be using our own detailed pics against the unexpected. How easy is it to lift a few images off a website onto one's own hard-drive, trim any labels off and re-use them in a bogus posting of the item for sale.

oh and here's a email he sent out...

seems like he's been getting collectors angry before . . .

"Here are the pictures of the item and I add more items of my collection that are or will be on sale on EBay.

****By the way a fellow member told me that some people are sending negative email about me and/or my auctions. EBay is already investigating on this matter please let me know if you received any of these ''SPAM'' negative email.

                                Regards

                                RR "

                                Hmmm....
