Agree with Ben here. The cross isn't included in the regular updates and auctions with only authentic items but is listed among replicas and fakes. Up to the buyer if you want this cross for a very low price. It would be a totally different story if a questionable item was up for sale in the regular update for a big price...but it isn't.

Opinion on the controversial piece?

I have one of these crosses also that came into my friends shop. I also thought it was just a weird combo of early appearance with L mark. was told it was a current polish or latvian fake but I have had it for about 15 years so not buying that. It has Floch look to me but always kept it as conversation piece and until proven otherwise a post war produced piece to me.

Some items are controversial, and get a lot of different opinions.
Some collectors call good stuff fake, and some keep defending bad stuff.
No one is forcing you to buy, but at least the item is not described as authentic
If it was that easy (it's right or it's wrong) fakers wouldn't stand a chance because every item has to be "textbook".
But if you collect like that, you will miss out on a lot of nice items.
If I had collected that way I would have had about half the crosses I have in my collection.
This item is offered as-is, an ek that gets a lot of different opinions.
You can't put all responsibility at the sellers end, the buyer has some responsibility as well.
Can you prove this cross is fake, Jock?
I don't think so
I can't prove it is fake, it's just my gut-feeling.
The seller could also have offered it as a rare, one-piece, authentic cross for
400 E, but since he's not sure he offers it for 40 E, which is 10%
That is the reason I don't have a problem with this particular cross and the way it is offered.
I do however agree with Daniel that too many fakes may harm your business.
But there are many, many more dealers that operate that way, so always be careful what you buy
If you are the latest all singing all dancing dealer then you should have an opinion on an Item if you list it for sale based on your reputation?
If you start to pedal 'controversial' items regardless of price then you dabble with your own reputation?
Whether it is that easy or not the fact remains it is right or wrong?
I would rather miss out on 'a nice item' than be out of pocket further down the line, who is going to appreciate my 'nice item' with me, only other fools if it turns out bad?
I do collect that way and I do come unstuck occasionally but probably not as often as people that like 'nice, one of a kind' items.
I can't see the item, I don't know what it is priced at (irrelevant) so I can't comment on its originality I do worry though when a reputed dealer starts down that path since he can not grantee it is original, regardless of how it is listed.
Everyone should have a problem if 50/50 starts to be accepted, it would be better if you have a reputation not to handle that sort of item and leave that to other auction sites and dealers you mention?

I have made my point and so have you.
If you have a problem with the dealer or the item: don't buy it.
I will not respond to your replies anymore since it seems to lead nowhere.
Fair play you have made your point in detail. I respond, is that an argument or discussion?
I have no problem with the dealer but only seek to point out to perhaps the less experienced that errors in judgement exist and are important as to how we the community respond to them.
I know that is not always approved on here.
Still I accept your opinion, we're allowed to have one still, I think!
It can be a slippery slope if we all accept it.
You guys are the paying customers not me!
Good luck!
