Hopefully the pieces go onto other collectors that enjoy their items that much more and display them in a way that makes them happy.

If these were part of a grouping or something like that I would be ashamed, but this isn't anything of the sort. I am actually selling one cross only to be able to afford keeping the other, plain and simple. This is why I am not selling my attributed display ribbon as it and one of the crosses will stay on my tunic. So as far as my motivations and for further information on the assembly of my tunic display, please see:

believe me, if I didn't have to sell a Knights Cross that I pulled from the woodwork myself to fund the addiction of collecting (as a true collector) I wouldn't but that just isn't an option for me right now in life. Right now, to keep up with the Jones' I have to invest intelligently and move things around when need be.

Seriously, do you think you are the only one who has to scrimp and save? Do you think there is no one else in this forum that has to do likewise? That is not the reason, nor an excuse to split up sets like these.

You talk about intelligent investing? The intelligent thing would be to sell the 2 RK sets complete and buy a single RK with ribbon for your display and you'd still have plenty left over to buy any other items that you need.

well when I tried that in August of 2012 and had this set listed on all of the big forums I could not find a collector that wanted to purchase a cased RK. After letting it sit for months (extremely well priced) and not having a solid bite, I was forced to split up. So while I couldn't find a collector to buy the set, I found three collectors looking to buy individual pieces; one for a case, one looking for a mint ribbon, and the last looking for just the cross.

No I don't believe I am the only one that has to scrimp and save, but unfortunately the cost of this was too large and offset my entire financial situation. Drastic times called for drastic measures. It was originally listed as a set, but nobody bought the set - believe me, I tried.

Agree. Looks like the same cross. If so, why not tell the whole story?

yes, one of my two crosses was purchased from a forum member and came out of an Uncle's (Veteran) Estate. There were two cased crosses, and I purchased the more worn example for my tunic display.

Ok. Got you wrong. Thought these where something you pulled out from the woodwork yourself.

Very nice crosses by the way. Wish I was the owner.

None of my business why you are selling what you are selling / keeping what you are keeping, and both crosses shown are very nice. I'm confused, though, because the crosses weren't even posted by that owner until May of 2013. So after finding one RK yourself (out of the woodwork?), you bought another RK to re-sell in order to pay for the first one you got?

I purchased the worn one just recently. Upon doing so I realized I "bit off more than I could chew" and was forced to make a decision to keep only one cross, thus I decided to sell one.

Thanks. Not the first time that has happened for anyone!
