    Attributed Cased EKII Spange

    Dear all, I am happy to be the new owner of the beauty. It is said to be attributed to a Major Zethmeyer. The price was steep. However, I love the whole set being contained in its rare original case. Obviously, it was a private purchase piece. Hope you enjoy!

      Nice Meybauer Spange, one of my favorite designs.

      The case is surely not for the Spange originally, although it looks period and may indeed be what the original wearer kept it in.

          I really don't know. Something slender with a semi-rounded top that would need an elastic band to keep it in the case. A slim lighter? A small plaque? It would all just be guesses. It's a neat little case though.

            Thanks Streptile. To me, it seems to be an LDO case taking into consideration of the catch, push button, and hinge, even though it is unmarked. But just my personal comment.

                      Ive noticed the upper case has markings of what seems an EK or Kriegsverdienst maybe? Not the proper case but possibly he cased awards without bothering much whenever changing uniforms. By the way, has anyone seen pictures of the recipient around? Cound not find any in google.

                      EDIT: second thoughts... How about being the case for his WWI EKII?

                        from Klaus Butschek? a nice SPII. and the case IMO is period ordered award case, very nice! for this small and incomplete grouping, i suggest you get the SPII only is smart

                          Otter, you have good eyesight. I could not see the EK mark, which has made it more mysterious because the case does not seem to be a one which should have fitted an EK. By the way, no photograph of the original owner. I am looking for one too.

                            Very nice clasp but the case is not intended for it. The case looks period but for some kind of nonportable award.
