I don't like the eagles, nor the pattern of pebbling on the cross arms.

        Spanish cross

Yuri, I was leaning toward it being original. Is this a known repro by this maker? Thanks, DEL

I can't answer if it's a know B&NL repro, but the eagles are too fat looking, which is a reproduction characteristic for these awards. Also notice the "grid-like" pebbling on the cross arms, you never find this on known originals. I think it's a reproduction.

Some people think that B&NL didn't produce SC

Could you have a close up on the MM, could you post the measurements, weight, please

                I would add...

... that I have not seen one of these with such poor eagle detail and large, lumpy stippling to the fields of the arms, that was made prior to 1945.

the reverse assembly is similar to what you see on real examples, but I do not know if this maker made these pieces or not.

                    I agree....

... with respects to the pin/hinge & catch. Very, very close to what I would expect to see on an authentic piece... But the details of the front seem to be sorely lacking. I also second François... many doubt that BN&L made this piece war-time... I'd have to say the jury's still open to debate on that issue, but I would not feel comfortable owning or selling this particular cross.

                      Hi

The Spanish cross BN&L marking was already debated . few years ago I owned such a cross in gold. It had the same front and back details. I believed it was original until a knowledgeable dealer told me it was not good. I can't proove it's a copie or if BN&L actually made these crosses, but I saw the same crosses with other MM, and that bother me !
this MM was presented as a copie in a german magazine few years ago.In the doubt, I prefer avoid this MM crosses.

                        Spanish Cross

I will have to take the weight tomorrow, my batteries are dead in my scale but the measurements from outside the arms vertically and horizontally are the same, 55 1/2 mm. I am posting a pic of the maker mark. Thanks, DEL

I would like to start off by saying that I am not an expert in these SC's but in the very first picture before I even saw the first comment my immediate reaction was that the Eagles were very fat. I then read down and confirmed that I was not the only one with this belief.

Right off the bat not 1 second after seeing the eagles my observation of the eagles was starring me in the face. I have never seen posted on this forum or others of know originals eagles looking that fat. But as I said I am not an expert and my opinion is just that an opinion, take it for what it is worth. With these "Big Ticket" items (as I am a poor man) I tend to stick with known originals as I cannot afford to purchase a contraversial piece. Ok now have at me for the know originals comment.
