DKIG miniatures EKs 1939-59 uboat hunter

A lot miniatures from the estate of uboat hunter commander Alexander Teichmann. I bought these items from a collector that have Teichmanns award pieces and some of his docs. I got a copy of some of his docs. He is credited on destroying 4 russian uboats, with 3 where confirmed. A shame to split the grouping, but the collector did not care for miniatures and needed to sell some items. Real nice items... the 1939 DKIG is MM L/57.

      Nice minis indeed.
Is there any provenance, to prove that they were actually Theicmanns?

            Yes

The guy I bought it from have alot of his docs and medals. He where awarded his iron crosses in 1940. They are Schinkels. The guy seem reliable. I been offered some more of his medals, but the awarded Marine frontspange and DKIG and docs he want to keep.

              German U-Boat Hunters

              Gentlemen,

So much is known about the U.S. Navy and the Royal Navy captains that were successful against Axis submarines while commanding surface ships. The submarine hunters of the Kriegsmarine were unfortunately little known. I heard that the most successful one was Kaptlt. Otto Pollmann who claimed to have sunk 14 allied submarines while commanding UJ-2210. He was a holder of the Knight's Cross with Oakleaves. He was in the Bundesmarine after World War II. So Kaptlt. d. R. Alexander Teichmann was the second one that I know of who was successful against enemy subs while commanding a surface ship. Learn something new tonight. I wonder what Teichmann did after World War II? Was he in the Bundesmarine?

              Sincerely,

              Edward L. Hsiao

Nice minis, esp the DKIG. -57's seems pretty early too, but its hard to say. The 2 Deumer Schinkel match the -40 award dates perfectly. Makes sense with the denazification of the EKI too if he was in the Bundesmarine.

                    More pics

I have received some more pics from the lot. The owner of the docs have a few more, that he cant find, but hopefully will turn up. I have no prewar info... But seems likely that he served after the war. Yes not much info about German uboat hunters to find on google

We're pretty familiar with the allied arctic convoy battles, like PQ17, but at the same time the Germans were fighting their own convoy battles in the arctic. In order to supply the XIX Gebirgs Korps on the Murmansk front, a constant stream of coastal convoys made their way up and down the Norwegian coast making for Kirkenes, or Petsamo\Liinahamari. Along most of the Norwegian coast, convoys could be attacked by British aircraft or submarines, but as they reached the Northern tip of Norway, the Russians took over, attacking the convoys with submarines, MTBs and aircraft. On the very last leg of the trip, they also came into range of Russian coastal artillery batteries.

The small ships and flottillas of the KM get very little attention compared to other elements of the KM but as far as numbers of high awards goes, they come second only to the u-bootwaffe.

I've had a quick look at the sinking dates given and i can't find any record of a sinking on the 6.5.40, though on the 5th May, the British submarine SEAL was captured by the Germans, though i don't think there's a connection here.

12th May '42 is easier, this was the Soviet submarine K-23

The submarine sunk during the second half of aug.42 could well be the Soviet M-173

I have a docs and photoalbum grouping to the 11 UJ-flottille, the ships they used were converted trawlers and whalers.

                            Hi Nicolai,

Those minis are excellent The swastika on the DK isn't correctly centered and I can't tell from the image if there's a date in the wreath below one of the tips. Can you please verify.

                            cheers

                              Hi

The pin is very nicely made of parts. The parts just moved a bit, and is without any problems back in center. The pin is without date. The items is without question 100% originals
