EK II, Should i clean it?

Hello!

I just bought nice in my opinion nice EK II. I wondered about cleaning it out of that clay on the cross sides. Whats do you guys think? Maybe i should keep it untouches because that clay adds war atmosphere?

A lot of people say don't clean your awards.

Good advice.

But in this case I would use a bit of mild soap and water with a soft brush to get rid of the dirt.

Just my opinion.

You might be able to get by just simply brushing it with a soft bristle shoe or paint brush.

If you do use water to clean it be sure to dry it thoroughly with a hair dryer.

If it were mine, I dont think i would touch it much. If anything I would take a damp cotton swab(Q-tip) and try to get the clay dirt off a little. Ive done it before, but sometimes it leaves behind little threads of cotton that you have to hand pick out. haha

Ok, thanks for the advices and the maker identification! Ill try to clean it without using of water. It's the iron cross so it can get rusted if i will use any liquid.

Using water is not a problem if you dry it properly.

I do not understand why people must clean awards. Especially something what is older then they.

Mate, do not touch it, you will just remove patining or started some dangerous process with material. Let it be, it is really wonderful cross with nice character.

Date reminds me Meybauer, but it is really uncommon type.

If you like your awards grubby don't clean it.

Soap and water will not remove any patina.

Then again if you like them grubby collect ground dug.

There you would be in hog heaven.

Again just my humble opinion.
