Or if a Congressional Medal of Honor was pinned on.

It took real for these to be given. Show some respect.

    I think NO

Wow!! with all the EK1 shirts being worn out there by members and alpine patch tee shirts and other awards like Uboat ensignia "EARNED" by the respectful crew members of a certain Uboat ships and such on shirts being worn by thousands + in the collecting community including WAF members, are they also being disrespectful to the awards????? I honestly believe tho if your going to have a tee shirt with the KC on it, it should have the swastika not the 57 version, after all, it is history and it is "in my view" showing respect for the award and what it took to earn it and respect for those "who" earned it,,, do those who dislike the tee shirt hide their collection from anyone who comes into their home??? If not then why not show respect to those who fought in the German Military by recognizing the awards they earned.... are you/we ashamed... I hope not.
My Father fought against the Germans in WWII, befriended a few soldiers he captured and stayed in contact after the war... Not all German soldiers were "Nazi's", Not all SS soldiers were "Nazi's" To each there own tho...

A quick search of the net will bring up these t-shirts with awards on them. Belle and Blade have been selling them for years.

As someone who served in the armed forces of the United States I find it distasteful for anyone to wear any country's combat awards or facsimiles there of who did not earn them. I am a great believer in the concept of "stolen valor". Now, having said that I must also say that I served my country because I believe in and am willing to defend its values and the Constitution. As a result I believe in freedom of speech and if some *sshole wants to put a RK on his T-shirt and wear it around and make a f#cking fool of himself I will defend his right to do so. But to me this sort of thing shows about as much class as a yellow star of David with the word "Jude" written across used as a T-shirt decoration.

          Just one man's opinion.

Well stated Mike and I am in total agreement! Disrespectful to those who earned or died in combat earning this or any countries Medals when displayed on a t-shirt! Very Sad!
            My 2 cents!

Where is the respect in guys wheeling and dealing in awards paid for with blood by those that earned them?

If we carry on this arguement then surely the commercial selling and buying of military awards should be a big No No then?

Where does that leave dealers and the E-stand? Crass? Disrespectful?

Just my thoughts on this sort of thing.

If you want to talk about stolen Valour and being respectful for those that earned awards then imo wheeling and dealing in them should also not sit comfortably with you. You can't just pick and chose what is disrespectful and what isnt to suit your own needs?!

              just my opinion

              cheers

                Dave,
Depending on the item I think you are correct, wheeling and dealing in them does make me uncomfortable at times to the point there are some items I will not collect. Now if an item is new or unissued or given away by the vet I feel better. I personally will not accept U.S. awards from a family of a U.S. vet. I think they should stay in the family. The current generation may not appreciate them but I think later ones will. I don't think many of us would want something taken from a soldier's grave either. As far as what lies in between I don't have a good answer for you but I do feel that most of us collect with a respect for the items we come in contact with and acknowledge what they represent in terms of duty, courage, ideologies and the tragedy and waste that is war no matter how noble the cause for which it may be fought.

                  VC T-Shirt Too......

"I bet there would be a lot of protests if a Victoria Cross version was made with the VC imprinted on the left side."

I'm really amazed that there really is a VC version around, I guess there must be some sort of market for them.

Lol @ the 'Wolf pack' shirt. Wave your social life goodbye if you dare to wear that one.

                          Hi Dave,
you certainly got a point there, BUT:
without dealers the collection would grow very slow.
If no one sells or offers, there is no way you can expand the collection.
What is the difference when you buy from a dealer or from an add in the newspaper, on-line auction or E-Stand??

I like fun-shirts, I don' t think I have more then 2 plain shirts, but this is different.
                          Its not funny IMO.
It's not ok towards the soldiers that earned this (or any other nations) awards, nor towards the survivors of the "other side" in ww2.
Basically it's like pinning an iron cross on your shirt, it won't get you many friends.

@Van: I don't think you show respect by wearing this shirt, let alone the wolfpack shirt.
I don't hide my collection, but I don't have it in the living room either.
There are people that are very dear to me that have lost a lot of relatives during the war.
They know what I collect, have seen it all, but it doesn't have to be " in their face, does it?

It' s like wearing a pro-Taliban shirt, you may do so if you want to, but it doesn't get you much respect.

                          just my 2 cents...

                          Ben

Not to get off subject, but I'll accept US awards from the families of vets, simply because, if I don't, the awards may very well be thrown out in the trash. That to me is disrespectful. The families of deceased vets who earned awards have told me that if I don't want it, they'll just throw it out.

On the subject of T-shirts, I really don't care one way or another. I won't wear a T-shirt with a swaz on it. I do remember a military show....the son of a dealer walked in, wearing two full size repro German Crosses in Gold as collar tabs. He looked like a complete buffoon!

I agree with you, 100%, except for the sentiment quoted above. While I also agree that they should remain cherished examples of a family's history, my experience has sadly been that most of today's younger family members, couldn't care less about the items that document a relative's service.
Most consider them worthless junk, to be consigned to the trash heap, or to be sold for the few dollars they can get for "Grandpa's junk".....

I've rescued a few U.S. groupings from that dismal fate, and I'm happy to be the caretaker of these parts of their personal history. I hope that when I decide to part with them, the next caretaker will hold them in the same regard.
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

Wearing T-shirt imprinted with any top military awards such like CMOH,Knights Cross and Victoria Cross is tasteless and disrespectful to vets who fought in wars. I dont wear those such t-shirts. I never buy any t-shirt imprinted with those top military awards! I always respect and admire the combat vets who fought in all wars in defense of freedom.
