While KVK Knight's Crosses are a big yawn for me, I have to give Craig credit for landing some exceptional scores in a relatively short time in this hobby. You simply don't get lucky that many times (meaning hard work is certainly involved!).

    Regards,

    Drew

Thanks, Drew. It's been a while since I bought those nice visors and uniform from you (especially the Nebelwerfer)! I believe luck is directly proportional to hard work - you are correct.

It was nice to get a positive review from Gordon Williamson, over at GMIC:

These people must not be too bright. They can't even get a German name correct.

I thought about buying Craigs Hitler Skull but it was marked L/58 and that put me off, kinda makes sense with the Austrian connection but you've gotta think of re-sale

I am no expert in these ,,just want to learn ...

I just wonder here ,,so I ask .

what about the different thickness's off the 1939 date's ?

is that just the flash light on the picture taking ?

to be honest the picture off the silver cross wood not be enough fore me to be certain
the flash light is taking to much away from the detailing to be fit fore comparing it to anything

and the 20 mark looks different to so >>>?

so ,,is this cross original now ,,or not ????

Based on the comparising of the silver and the gold specimen everything looks very believable. At least if someone can verify that the different thickness of the numbers and "ribbons" in the wreath are just an optical illusion created by the photographs or mayby the different reflection of silver and gold???

What a clip. 2-3000 items... the man thinks he have a great investment...

I think many of us in the beginning have been there... but lucky for me it where just a few items before I learned about the fakes. Well about a story.... its not a story if its first hand, and can be documented. It sound like that the medal in question, now is a important reference piece for other items that turn up:-)

Exactly - a "story" and "provenance" are not the same thing. Someone ought to start a thread about that! Anyway, neither the cross or the story is in question - not to anyone who has inspected it in person. The end of the matter was when the author of the War Merit Cross book, Gordon Williamson, gave it an unequivocal 100% thumbs up on GMIC, noting several unique characteristics to the Zimmerman WMC without swords (both the silver and gold ones came from the same die, according to Williamson). Any differences you may see are most likely due to the fact that you're comparing two crosses from two different cameras, photographed in 2 different lighting environments, by two different people.

there's a space between 9 and 3 on the silver KVK.
is that caused by 2 different cameras, photographed in 2 different lighting environments, by two different people??

something strange going on here ,,,

i see a gab between the 9 and 3 in the mail picture..

and there more points off numbers touching each other or having gabs in the mail and on the silver one ..
but not in the gold thread starter ,,?

maybe just the picture ? or the crosses have bin exchanged ?
