Clearly it is a Fake.......

I don't think so, but I don't know for sure. My guess would be that it was an expediency towards the end of the war, or a simple mistake during manufacture.

Can you please clarify which pin is on the 1914 cross? I would have guessed the one on the right, but I think you said it was the other one.
