                  26 BH Meyer 1914 1939 Comparison

I Have wondered Why Crosses which have the same Frame Do Not Have the Same Reverse Fittings............ Anybody Know Why?

For Comparison With Original Post.... Obviously Mine is a Later Cross!

26 BH Meyer 1914 1939 Comparison Rear view....

See my 1939 Cross has the same fittings as the Original Thread Starter..... You Can See the Family Connection - But Not Between the 1914 and the 1939.....? (1914 at the Top...)

Look the Catches are even Different.....?

                      1914 on the Left......

And Why is the '26' stamped in a different place on the Pin?

                        left : "normal" pin-system
right : rar pin-system from Mayer, this is all

                          Hi Karel,

The one you show on the left, is an earlier pin setup from Mayer. The one on the right is a later pin. Sometimes, over the course of the war, makers switched suppliers, or suppliers switched products, so you can have crosses by the same maker with different pins.

By the way the 1914 Mayer you show should not be marked with the PKZ number 26, although we have seen more than one that is. I'm not 100% sure what that tells us about the cross.

                          Best regards,
                          Streptile

Is there any 1914 BH Mayers marked L/18 out there, might be that they didnt understand the system. I have a cased one thats certainly believable to have been together forever, and ive also seen some more recently at fairs (2 mint ish marked 26)

Another 'Rubbish' Cross for the Bin Then....?

                              Trevor,

My Bin is Becoming Quite Full with The 'Rubbish' I Find in my Longstanding Collection................. Clearly it is a Fake.......

Is there a Home You Know - for Disturbed and Demented GentleFolk - (Iron Cross Collectors) - I May Retreat to.....?

I Prostrate myself for the Castigation of 'Kay' amongst others.... For Daring to Show Photos of Items, that Are 'Unapproved' by the PKZ............
