I can accept a difference in the beading with a strike, but what about the core? I would think those differences cannot be explained by anything but a different core, as the differences there appear rather large. ALL the digits of the "1813" are different. We would not find that acceptable for a date on a DKiG. Why the core for an RK? Are there simply different cores used by S&L and only one beading? If so, I can easily see this. But if the core is always the same, how can one explain these differences? And why is the "1939" perfect, but not the "1813"? Thanks

Thanks Gentlemen,
I'm glad we could clarify this one. And some more lessons learned and some more perfection gained in picture comparison 1 on 1.
Dietrich
P.S.: Brian, I actuall was thinking about offering you the possibility to maybe start talking about me selling you the one RK-Mini. With your remark above .....

Thanks for the educations guys, particularly about the paint. But how can that "1" be lower than the ones Dave has, as well as the one I have, and the ones in Gordon's book? That cannot be explained by paint. Obviously you guys know tons more than I do, but that part I simply do not get. Also, look at the position of the "3" in the "1813". It appears lower relative to the "1" also. I know this is like teaching algebra to a dog, but help me with that part (I would like to make clear that I am the dog in that analogy).

But Dave, the photo angle would have to be relatively acute to cause such a disparity, would it not? Just for a laugh, my 11 year old kid is sitting here with me reading the threads and thinks you guys are full of crap on this one . We get similar views in his objective evaluation of his teachers. (He is gone now- the kid has tested out as a college sophomore so is pretty bright, but carries a little too much swagger)
I concede to superior knowledge. Thanks for the post and the information, as I am learning more about these from such exchanges. I am glad Dietrich and Dave seem to frequently post these for the benefit of the rest of us. Thanks -
BTW- ANy more input on the case post?
