      That is the first thing I noticed....the bottom of the pin. thanks to the pinned FLOCH article at the top of the cross forum page, that is the first thing i look for when I think sumthin is wrong now. Great article too BTW. (sorry to get off topic). this cross could have fooled me tho in my earlier days

        Interestingly enough this cross shares no parts with the Floch, and I am almost certain they are unrelated. I've handled both types. The pins share a little bit of similarity in their shape, but the pin on the Schinkel is actually closer to an accepted wartime pin used by Orth, although it's very clearly different from that one, too:
