Hi Monty :
Looking at it the way it is ..... is a puzzle !!
There are a few of these around from time to time with the frame or core rotated !! You have a W&L EK1 with what looks like a very worn S&L core .
To help with this W&L core I did up an interesting comparison . There is a fat Swastika S&L core version one does not see that often . At first the W&L core reminded me of this one one until I put it side by side . Night and day ... a bad attempt to copy the center one !
That is why the question ... if one can see if the frame has been opened ?? The edge halfs from what one can see - seam to match , ... which possibly only means the person put the top frame back on wrong again befor trimming the edges again ??
I have just seen personally Core (or front side) of left cross, on EKIIs marked 333. Swastica is not just fat, it has irregular dimensions of arms.
I 'll look for old pics to show them.
That left core is irregular and does not match as the comparison shows . The W&L frame had to been opened to get that core inside . Whoever did it picked the worst core there is .
