    reverse looks to wide

Hi, I am not exactly sure, but looking at the back or reverse side alone it looks too wide like a Latvian etc. type there alone.

      IMO a postwar S&L

Much better photos! I still believe it is a good early example.

If the cross has "A" type frames, no matter what the ring looks like, it's a war time cross.

This cross displays extensive filing of the inner beaded corners, to make the swastika fit. While this is common on Juncker Knight's Crosses, it is rather uncommon on St&L Knight's Crosses. Otherwise, I like the cross.

Based on the new photos, especially those showing the corners, in Post #22, I think this is an early S&L cross. The inner corner filing is something which also exists on the 800-4.

It also appears to have the 9-12 o'clock knee flaws indicative of a S&L 'A' type. I also do not see many/any beading flaws on the ends of the arms placing it early in the A-type timeline. Looks to be a very nice cross!

                              Franco,

Here is a posting of the 9-12 flaws I was commenting on.

I also believe I am seeing the "lightning bolt" zig-zag feature indicative of S&L in the upper right corner of the Cross where the outer corner of the beading meets...
