    Ritterkreuz opinions please

Need some opinions to this knights cross, good or bad?

IMO its a early original S&L Lüdenscheid.

    danke

IMO this is not a S&L cross.

But wait for more experienced to chime in on this.

It does appear to be S&L to me with the large 800 which I believe indicates early. The finish (or lack off) to the ring is a tad unusual though.

      I sense a sting!

My eyes probably deceive me, but the obverse/reverse look like two different crosses.

          Hi,
This is a cross that needs to be examined -- in the hand--and along side a know original.
There is something about the core surface and the paint, along with the rounded appearance of the numerals that need close examination.
          Cheers

I don't think your eyes are deceiving you at all.... I think they're working just fine....
I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

the ring looks like a k&q --doughnut shaped and only big enough for the single part of the loop?

I think the ring looks unfinished.

I would be interested to see images taken the same day, same light, same background. Not that what I want really matters...

doughnut shaped and only big enough for the single part of the loop is a good description and correct for this cross.

Looks like S&L with 'unfinished' inner part of the ring.

As indicated by Dietrich, the "unfinished ring" is most often seen on postwar crosses, but it is also to be found on wartime pieces. It should also be noted, in passing, that some postwar crosses have very nicely finished rings, every bit as good, or even better, than many wartime pieces.
