    Meybauer arrived today

Hello guys, Meybauer arrived today. The core is absolutely nice, but I noticed on reverse is first number with defect, is that normal ? This Schinkelform should belonged to the SS-Totenkopf man, next week I will get from his grouping early GWB with miniature and case. (for more awards and photos I lack money)

Ribbon is original, but added by myself

Die defects on cores is not uncommon ... and are found on many cores .

Interesting about the date flaw , Robert . Made me look at mine ..... as you may remember my EK2 has a very bad flawed beading on it . So I exspected the same date flaw to be even worse on mine .
No - it is not . Surprize ! It is a different date from a different die all together . This date is new and crisp ... and presume your reverse die got so bad it was replaced .
What seams odd though ...... they replaced the reverse core die and let the frame die deteriorate down to this bad state and did not replace it sooner ???

                  Douglas

Realized later the Maybauer above is a Schinkel and this one is a standard ............. so it does not compare . Sorry .

Man, those frame dies were ready for the scrap heap.

Is your frame a Schinkel? It looks like a standard.

Happens. I've got an L/13 with very badly flawed frames as yours. I'll take a quick scan and post it.

And, another L/13 with flaws just beginning to form...

A different core in this L/13, different type of paint also.
