Still very hard to say, in one pic it looks copper, in the other i looks like rust.

Try a Q-Tip with a little oil on a bare spot.
If the color stays the same, it's copper, if it gets dark, it's rust

Ben has a great idea, I think that it is copper coated from the photos You show.
