Just received this "vaulted" Deumer. Is that copper showing through on the date or just a bit of rust?

Hey Nick, Great looking cross, but it does look like a standard core with rust on the date. The worn tips of the swas look to be iron unless the flash from the camera brightened it up . This is what I can tell from the pics anyway.
Great cross either way.

I think it is rust.
The early Deumer ek' s had a copper-plated core, but as far as I know that only goes for the version with the thin tapered pind and clamshell screwback

Well, obviously L/11 marked ek's can have a copper-plated core, here are the pics that Kevin sent me.
