Can one find out by the photos below which maker has made this EK I 1939?

The EK does not have any marks. No better photos available right now.

Can you identify, whether it is a production from the wartime or the post-war period of Souval?

Personally I believe that is a wartime cross, but Souvals are difficult. I think this pin, and this frame (with this flaw) were not used postwar. Some new information may come to light to contradict this, but for now I would be very happy with this cross.

I agree with Trevor based on the pin. I know that a lot of companies had huge left over frames (and other parts....) which were used up after the war. So the frame could be wartime, the assembly might not be (generally speaking). This is especially true with Souval and Orth...

Hi Andy,

Here is a shot, courtesy of Robert Pierce, of the Souval flaw. Many believe this flaw is found only on wartime crosses. I am not sure either way, as I've not seen the evidence. But I do think your cross has it:

And what are from your point of view the main characteristics of a post war produced EK I 1939 from Souval?

I think the issue here is that as Dietrich and Trevor discuss this, from my understanding, there is much debate of the characteristics of a post war and wartime produced Souval. I'm sure one or both of these guys, who know far more than I, can help, but in the end it may be a debate that can't be 100% solved. Then again, I've been wrong once or twice in my 28 years on this Earth...

Hi,

While I agree that's a Souval frame I think it might be the skinny swas core associated to Orth. I'd expect to see the fat swas and dipped 3 if it was the Souval core.

I don't know. I was only talking about Souval FRAMES which have been used by others post war.
