    Souval EK2 with uncommon mark

I was recently able to add this one to my collection. It's a typical Souval, front and back, love it or hate it.

Most Souvals I've seen are unmarked. Occasionally I see one with a '98' mark, their PKZ code. I've seen comparatively few with their LDO mark, 'L/58,' as this one has. It's stamped incuse into the ring in a style similar to their '98' marks, and is pretty crisp.

With that mark, I would tend to love it!

Marked or unmarked, I love souval crosses for their beading. Probably one of my favorites. Very nice cross you have there.

Jay, I don't have any more. I've sold an L/16, an L/11, and an L/56 though. Apart from maybe the L/16, I think this L/58 is the rarest of the ones I've ever had personally.

                Hi Trev,

                intersting cross....

Have you compared this one especially the frame (flaw on the front) with a war time made mm98 EK2 ?

Is the core magnetic or unmagnetic ?

                Best,
                Oli

Trevor nice cross and it would go good with my LDO marked box, so send it on when you are done admiring it. All joking aside it is very nice. Jim

                    Hey Oli,

Good to hear from you as always. Souval EK2s are not my specialty, but I have compared it to my '98' marked wartime frame, and I find it compares favorably. In fact I believe it to be a precise match. However, I'm not certain I know which flaw you refer to, so if you could post or email me some more specific information, I will be happy to do further comparisons.

Now one of those would be the only reason I would ever allow another Souval into my collection!!
                      Great find Trevor.

                      Regards - Danny

Yeah, I know what you mean.

By the way, Oli, this core is magnetic.

                            Hi Trev,

i ask because i had a Souval EK2 with the same setup (frame, BUT NON-magn. core and mm L/58), too.

When i showed it i was told that it was a post war, because the frame had not the flaw, etc.....

What about this type of mm ?

Here we got the post war EK1 with L/58 on the needle (post#8):

                            http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/FORU...%2F58+post+war

But i must say i like your cross post war or not.....
It is still missing in my LDO collection of EK2/1939.
